Initially school drop outs and rescued child labourers were being housed at PARA. Later on,
to be closer to the children from the street, the residence of children was shifted to rented
premises at Rajahmundry. Ekalavya Children’s Home was shifted to the present premises
2014. It is a Child Care Institution licensed under the JJ Act 2015. The children are looked
after by a house mother, Sr Maria Rani, of the Disciples of Christ founded by Fr. Joe
D’Souza, a warden, a street educator, documentation in charge and cook. A counselling
psychologist looks after the psychological needs of children, and where possible of their
parents. The children receive individual care and are attending the local government school.
